AD: Five uber romantic destinations that you should add to your couples bucket list
AD // GIFTED: This post was written in collaboration with Eshores. I received no financial compensation for creating this post but they did send me a hamper full of goodies so I could have a #RomeanticNightIn.
Eshores are a travel company based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester and they work with you to create the perfect holiday. For Valentines Day they have created the ultimate romantic holiday – This includes direct flights, 10 nights in five star hotels, private transfers and breakfast AND it consists of 3 nights in Venice, 4 nights in Rome and 3 nights in Paris.
Pretty sweet right?
To celebrate this pretty lush experience that they’ve created, they sent me a hamper full of goodies so I could recreate the magic of Rome for Valentines Day.
As I’ve mentioned previously the husband and I haven’t had the best of times lately so being gifted these goodies was perfect as it meant we could spend some proper time together making some delicious pasta.
In the end we opted for turkey mince (healthy healthy seeing as I’m back at the gym) with some chilli and garlic. I chucked in some onions and the passata and threw the pasta in a pan with some salted water.
As the sauce simmered and the pasta boiled it got me thinking about holidays we have been on in the past, the holiday we are looking forward to in the present and future travel plans.
This led to my inspiration for this post – Five uber romantic destinations that you should definitely visit as a couple at least once.
So what ended up my shortlist?
Rome, Italy. I couldn’t write a post centered around a Rome goody bag without mentioning the city itself could I? Nope. I’ve never been to Rome but ever since I read the Rotten Romans and did a project around it (a project that I won first prize for by the way), I’ve been dying to go. The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum…It’s every history nerd’s dream. Throw in a partner, pasta and ice cream and you are on to a winner.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Ok I’ve already been to Amsterdam but man is it dreamy. When people suggest romantic breaks they think of Paris or Venice but seriously, Amsterdam is where it’s at. The narrow houses, the canals, the abundance of cafes you can people watch from…Take it from me, it’s a great couple destination – It’s definitely not just for stag do’s.
Reykjavik, Iceland. Reykjavik is actually next on my hit list (providing I win the lottery of course) as I’ve been dying to see the northern lights for as long as I can remember. It’s the ULTIMATE romantic destination isn’t it? All wrapped up in your winter woollies, sipping hot chocolate then BAM the Aurora Borealis starts to dance across the sky (if you are lucky anyway, I hear they can be pretty elusive). Even if you miss the lights there is still the blue lagoon, sledding and whale watching to keep you occupied.
Anywhere in Scotland. I know what you are thinking…Scotland? Really? But believe me when I say Scotland is the perfect place to go for a romantic getaway – And it’s much easier and cheaper to get to than some of the places on this list! I personally fell in love with the Western Highlands – The beauty of Glencoe with it’s mountain scenery, the Caribbean-esque waters of Arisaig, the easy going, slow paced Fort William. It’s the best, seriously.
Busselton, Western Australia. This one is actually pretty niche (especially as it is 9,000 miles away) but this little city two and a half hours South of Perth is home to the most amazing couples activity that you cannot miss if you are ever in that neck of the woods. The husband and I were on a week long campervan journey through the South West region of WA and Busselton was our first stop. We set our alarms for five am to walk the 1.8km jetty at sunrise and man it was mesmerizing. We were even treated to a show by a lone dolphin who felt like showing off for us. The. Dream.
Do any of these places tickle your pickle? Or do you have somewhere in mind that you would absolutly bloody love to go to with a loved one? Let me know in the comments!
Now I’m gunna go and finish off some of the goodies the lovely people at Eshores sent me – Mainly the lemon biscotti and the chocolate panettone…Delicious.
Thanks to Eshores for kindly sending over the goodie bag and inspiring the husband and I to spend some time together cooking. And for inspiring this post!
