The Antipodes Aura Manuka honey face mask
As I had a wonderful impromptu Monday morning face mask earlier, I thought sharing this review that I’ve had sat in my drafts since Christmas was a must.
The Antipodes Aura Manuka honey mask has been on my hitlist for ages.
I’ve seen bloggers far and wide raving about it, it’s got great reviews on all websites but as it comes with an RRP of £22.00, I never invested…Then Beauty Bay announced their Christmas sale and boom, there it was for £15.39. Still expensive, sure, but slightly more justifiable.
As usual, the Beauty Bay free delivery was excellent and the product was in my grubby paws within a matter of days.
Before I tell you if I liked it or not, let’s talk about some of the ingredients.
First up, we have the Manuka honey. I don’t know much about it (I’m pretty sure Kourtney Kardashian used to rave about it??). The BB website states that it’s good for drawing moisture to the skin and as I have a tendency to a dragon scale nose, I could do with lashings of the stuff. It’s also meant to be great for spots and blemishes, another thing that I’m susceptible too.
There are three other ingredients of note:
‘Pohutukawa Extract deeply conditions and moisturises the skin whilst providing antioxidant and antiseptic benefits whilst a sensuous infusion of Vanilla Pod and Mandarin bring peace and balance to your aura’.
The Pohutukawa extract sounds pretty lush but I get the impression the vanilla pod and mandarin are only there to make the product smell good – And smell good it does.
As for the product itself, it’s a pretty nondescript cream. It doesn’t exactly scream wonder product but I was willing to give it a shot. I followed the instructions, applying a generous layer and leaving on for 15 minutes. After washing it off, my skin felt super soft and nourished and when I applied my foundation later on (The Ordinary’s coverage foundation) it applied like a dream…And let me tell you, I was G-L-O-W-I-N-G. Husband even commented on how luminous my complexion was.
I’ve used it a couple more times since and I’m still of the same opinion – That it’s a bloody great product. I maybe wouldn’t pay full price for it as I’m a tight Yorkshire lass but man, oh man, it’s a delight and it’s definitely coming into 2019 with me.
