Ten favourites from 2018

Blog post

The last few months of 2018 have been rough but we are almost at the end of it (thank God) so here are some positives/favourites from the last 12 months.

1.0 Knowing that whatever life throws at us, husband and I are pretty solid. The last couple of months have been a bit shaky due to things out of our control (deaths, broken heels, subsiding houses, moving in with parents…) but things are looking bright and sparkly for 2019 – Onwards and upwards my friends.

2.0 The year of the gel manicure. I started getting my nails done over the beginning of the year and I’ve finally settled on a nail tech/salon. Having nice nails is just one of those things that makes me feel good and I like having an hour where I can’t pick up my phone,

3.0 Reading 30+ books. I tried setting a 52 books in 52 weeks challenge but when everything went to shit reading fell to the bottom of the pile. I still managed to read just over 30 though which is a great achievement.

4.0 Booking ten nights in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for husband’s thirtieth. We booked this in June before everything went wobbly and thank God as it’s given us something major to look forward to in 2019. It was bloody expensive but on April 2nd it will all be worth it.

5. A Star Is Born. My number one movie of 2018 – Brilliant acting, directing, music, costumes, the lot. Loved it. Loved loved loved it. Can’t wait for it to come out on dvd (Yes I still watch DVDs).

6.0  A sunny weekend in London. In June we took ourselves to London to see Wicked and Liam Gallagher and it was brilliant. It was just as the heatwave was taking over, football fever had gripped the nation and it was just nice. I’m really hoping I can persuade husband to go next Christmas for some festive fun,

7.0 Killing Eve. Brilliant, brilliant tv show. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh = perfection.

8.0 Friday Night Dinner. Starring Will (from The Inbetweeners) and Tom Rosenthal as brothers and Tasmin Grieg and Paul Ritter as their parents, I’m ashamed to say I only started watching this programme recently. I binge watched all five seasons in a couple of days and I haven’t stopped watching it since.

9.0 Discovering escape rooms. Husband and I did our first escape room in Prague in January, then we did one in Leeds in October and *hopefully* we will do another before I go back to work. Even though they are hard, they’re a lot of fun and a great thing to do together.

10.0 Apple Iphone XS. I might be cheating with this one as I only received it yesterday but YAY new phone! The camera’s mint and I’m looking forward to having a proper play with it.

And we are done – Have a wonderful Christmas and I’ll be back at some point before the new year!
