Wednesday’s have never been my favourite day. Sure you are half way through the week, you’ve reached hump day BUT there are still two more full days at work to get through. As Wednesday isn’t a day I’m particularly keen on, I’ve been trying to add a little bit of sparkle to them by doing something fun with my favourite person (my husband – obvs).
This week we headed into Harrogate to the Imperial Palace, an all you can eat Chinese restaurant. We usually go to Cheung Won (a get up and grab what you want place) but it was closed for a refurb unfortunately. We were pretty lucky to grab a table at the Imperial – We got there at 6.15 and they told us they needed the table back for 7.30 (Challenge accepted, we were out for seven).
The one thing that the Imperial has on Cheung Won is that it’s table service, meaning things feel a little bit fancier. Food is cooked to order and you select what you want from a menu.
To start we had the mixed platter – Satay chicken, spring rolls, crispy king prawns with mayo, curry samosas, salt and pepper ribs, salt and pepper chicken wings and prawn toast. It was really yummy and I could have easily eaten six portions. Personal faves were the wings and the prawns.
For our mains we got beef in black bean sauce, Cantonese steak and – my number one – crispy sesame chicken. We also got some noodles but that was more so that the waiters wouldn’t judge us for only eating meat (which they did last time!).
All of the food was delicious and even though I feel like I’m cheating on Cheung Won by saying this (we’ve been going there since the beginnings of our relationship), it might be our new spot for Chinese food.
The food was good, the company was good, the overall night was good.
Ooh and we also decided on next week’s date night – We will be going to see A Star Is Born starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga cos I get chills every time I see the advert.
Pin for later:
