An honest review of the Glossier Solution

Glossier Solution Review

A few weeks ago I invested in Glossier’s latest release, a chemical exfoliator called ‘Solution’. Promising to make skin brighter, pores smaller and reduce redness, I decided to give it a whirl when my skin was very hormonal, resulting in 4 red boils on my forehead and pimples everywhere else. I won’t lie, I was totally suckered in by the before and after photos and dreamed of the perfectly clear skin that it would apparently give me. In the name of science I only used it with the Milky Jelly Cleanser and The Body Shop’s vitamin E day cream to make sure the results were fair so yeah, let’s see how I got on with it.

_Skin felt cleaner and softer; they felt Solution working right after they applied it.

On the Glossier website people claimed their skin felt softer and smoother after one use of Solution – Well I call BS on that cos mine didn’t feel any different to how it usually does. In fact it felt kind of rough. The first time I used it, it really stung and turned my face bright red but that simmered down after thirty minutes or so.

_Skin looked smoother, brighter, and clearer

I’ve been using Glossier’s Solution for a week now and to be honest, I don’t think it’s quite the miracle worked Glossier made it out to be. My angry spots have cleared up but I credit that to my period ending and trying to drink more water. However, I have sprouted some spots on my cheeks where I NEVER get spots – They’re the kind that you can feel but can’t really see if that makes sense?! I’m hoping this is just my skin purging due to the application of a new product so fingers crossed I guess.  In other news, I personally think my pores are even more noticeable than before but that might just be me looking for problems that aren’t there. Next week is supposed to be ‘pores look smaller’ week so here’s hoping.

_Pores looked smaller and skin looked glowy

Truth time? After two weeks I gave up on Solution. I was waking up with a new spot almost every day, my pores looked massive and my skin didn’t even feel that soft. I’ve come to the conclusion that chemical exfoliators are definitely not for me (I didn’t like the Pixi glow tonic either) and unless somebody wants it, it’s probably gunna end up in the bin. The Glossier website says further changes happen after three and four weeks but I’m not willing to sacrifice my skin any longer than I already have.

So there you have it. I was lured in by before and after photos and spent £20 of my hard earned cash on something that destroyed my skin. It’s been a week since I stopped using it and my skin still isn’t right but it’s a thousand times better than when I was using the Solution. I won’t go near it again and it’s a firm no from me.

Have you tried the Glossier Solution? How do you feel about it?
