BLOGMAS DAY THIRTEEN
It’s that time of year again! It’s almost the end of 2017, the ‘Instagram Best Nine’ feature has been released and all over the world people are reminiscing over their year – So I thought I would do the same and share it on here! My best nine makes me smile but I can’t help but feel the algorithm has really fudged me (and probably everyone else) over – All of these photos are from January – June and not one of them is of Bruce…Surely cute puppy photos should perform pretty well?!
Anyway, whinging aside…Here’s the stories behind my top nine Instagram photos from 2017.
P.s – You can follow me on Instagram here.
Photo 1 – Jody rowing a boat in Central Park
I remember posting this photo of Jodes and the likes just kept rolling in – It’s probably my most liked photo EVER with 113 likes so it’s safe to say husband was pretty smug about it. We went to central park after a morning at the natural history museum and I know people say it’s big, but I didn’t realise just how big. Luckily we entered near the lake so got to spend an hour on a row boat (the creakiest row boat in the history of ever), saw some turtles then went to the Boathouse – where some scenes from my FAVOURITE movie When Harry Met Sally were filmed – for drinks. Afterwards we decided to go to 5th Avenue and after twenty minutes of walking around with no idea where to go, we hopped on one of those carriage-bike things for 20 dollars. Worth it.
Photo 2 – Jody (again) chilled in an infinity pool in Phuket, Thailand.
Another photo of el husband that performed VERY well on Instagram (97 likes). How come photos of me don’t garner this much attention?!??! This one was a throwback Thursday and I posted it when I was feeling very meh about being at home. I was consumed with wanderlust and every day I asked myself WHY did I think coming home from paradise was a good idea? Almost a year later and I’m feeling a lot more settled, thank God.
Photo 3 – The view from the top of the rock, New York
It doesn’t surprise me that three of my top nine are New York images as NYC seems to perform really well on Instagram and hello, it’s NEW YORK CITY. Going to the top of the Rockerfeller Center was without a doubt my favourite activity that we did in New York, I just wish the weather had been a little bit less grey. Regardless it was awesome and thanks to it being a weekday there wasn’t that many people milling around. If you ever go to NYC if you do one thing do this – You get cracking views of the Empire State Building on one side then Central Park on the other. We spent a lot longer than we intended up there as we loved it.
Photo 1 – Me and the Grand Canyon, Arizona
Finally, a photo of ME! Witnessing the Grand Canyon with my own eyes is something that I will remember for the rest of my life – We did a tour where we got to fly over the canyon in a helicopter then sailed on the river in a little boat and it was just so cool. There was a lot of tourists at the Grand Canyon (obviously it’s a natural wonder!) but we managed to find a secluded area and snap a couple of photos – including this one. One thing I remember was just how bloody hot it was – We went in the middle of Summer and once you were deep in the canyon it was like being in a furnace. Still good though.
Photo 2 – The house
I took this photo after my sofa was delivered and our living room was almost complete. Tbh I’m surprised it made into my top nine but I guess people must love nosy-ing inside people’s houses! Looking at this photo now the house seems really stark – We now have a grey coffee table and a massive grey book case, the mantelpiece looks a lot jazzier, there’s more art on the walls and obviously the Christmas tree is up! I’m so happy in our house.
Photo 3 – My Cactus collection
Another one that I can’t believe has made it into my top nine! How has this made it in but not a photo of my baby Brucey? Anyways, I took this when I was in the peak of my cacti and succulent obsession. I’ve since got rid of a few (I don’t want Bruce to prick himself on them) but if I had more room my collection would be massive. From left to right they are from – B&Q, Ikea, Morrisons and Jody’s Grandad.
Photo 1 – Central Park from the top of the rock
Another one from NYC! This time it’s from the other side of the top of the rock. I don’t really have much else to say about it that I haven’t already said but I really like this angle. The city stole husband and I’s hearts and I’m convinced we left a bit of ourselves there – There has been talks of a second trip but at the moment they are only talks…I really hope they become a reality!
Photo 2 – Me being silly in Amsterdam
Hurray another photo of meeee! This was taken on my 25th birthday in Amsterdam, outside a tourist shop. Amsterdam is another place that I really fell for: It’s such a chilled out city and I would go back there tomorrow if I could afford it. It was the first time Jody and I went somewhere and didn’t rush around trying to do EVERYTHING. We took it easy, spending most of our time people watching from pubs or bars and man, it was the break we both needed.
Photo 3 – Edinburgh Castle.
Another one that I can’t believe made the final cut over Brucey! I mean it’s nice and all but hello, dogs are much cuter than crumbling buildings. Visiting Edinburgh Castle was a spur of the moment decision – We had been in Glasgow the day before watching The View (why else would we be in Scotland in February?) and decided on a pit stop in Edinburgh. We had been there before but never went in the castle due to time constraints. The castle wasn’t what I expected but it was nice to get it ticked off the list.
