5 Roald Dahl quotes to bring a little sunshine into your life

Matila: Quentin Blake illustration

As a kid I loved reading Roald Dahl’s books and as a teenager I actually based some of my college art work around his stories and Quentin Blake’s illustrations. Even as an adult his books can be enjoyed and I imagine children will be reading them until the end of time.

The 13th of September marked what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and is now referred to as Roald Dahl Day. I know this is a day late but I thought I would share five of my favourite quotes of his that we can all take something from.

And Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely
places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it’. The Minpins

person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a
wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick out teeth
but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like
sunbeams and you will always look lovely’. The Twits

said, Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Go
the whole hog. make sure everything you do is completely crazy, it’s
unvelieveable’ Matilda

began to realise how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He
taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it
is, go at it full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it,
love it, and above all become passionate about it. Luke warm is no
good. Hot is no good. White hot and passionate is the only thing to
be’ My Uncle Oswald
‘It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, so long as somebody loves you’ The Witches

What was your favourite Roald Dahl book? Mine was either Fantastic Mr Fox or The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. All those sweeties!
